Our final event from our Overcoming Labour & Supply Chain Shortages in Europe roundtable series was held on Thursday, 16th February 2023 from 10:00-12:00 CET at Stanhope Hotel.
In 2022, the EMI and METRO AG worked together on a series of roundtables addressing the topic of labour shortage in Europe, and the consequences these may have on specific economic sectors and on the functioning of supply chains in Europe and around the globe.
Bringing together social partners, civil society, policy experts from think-tanks and academia, and the EU institutions, these roundtables were the opportunity for participants to meet and exchange on the link between supply chain disruptions and how these are affecting or even caused by the acute labour shortage in Europe.
The outcome of the roundtables was synthesised in a Discussion Paper, with key highlights and recommendations that will be shared with policy makers during this final event.
Fellow professionals joined us at Stanhope hotel to discuss common issues and shared perspectives on the future of work in Europe.
After an introduction and presentation of the policy recommendations by Aimée Duprat-Macabies, Policy officer, European Movement International, a panel discussion featuring: Barbara Kauffmann, Director for Employment and Social Governance, Directorate General for Employment, European Commission, Marie Audren, Director General, HOTREC, Paul de Raeve, Secretary General, European Federation of Nurses and Patricia Velicu, Senior Policy Advisor, industriAll European Trade Union allowed for insightful exchanges on an important cross-sectoral challenge.
